Take an exciting sunset cruise on a traditional Greek caique boat. Hike the active volcano and stop at its green sulfur waters before heading to a beautiful spot for magnificent views of the sun setting over the horizon.
Departs at 2:00 PM from Athinios Port on a local caique, a boat traditionally made by Greek woodworking master craftsmen. Sail across Santorini’s beautiful ‘caldera’ (flooded crater) and visit the islands of Nea Kameni and Thirasia on this 6-hour cruise. Board a sightseeing boat and admire Santorini’s cliffs as you cruise to Nea Kameni. Enjoy free time to walk around its volcanic crater & swim in the warm springs and enjoy the sunset on board.
Volcano Our first destination will be the famous volcano of Santorini! After 20 minutes of sailing, we will reach Nea Kameni’s jetty. Should you be interested in being guided to the volcano, you should pay 5 euros per person as an entrance fee. Then, you will walk to the volcano’s ridge with your guide, and he will explain everything about the history and geology of the volcano. You will stay on the volcanic island for 1.5 hours, and in the end, you will embark again on our boat for the next stop.
Hot Springs Our next stop will be the island of Palea Kameni, where the famous hot springs are located on the west side. This place is popular for its thermal waters. We will stop there for 30 minutes at a distance of 30 meters from the shallow waters of Agios Nikolaos beach. The waters are mixed with mud that is full of sulfur, iron, and other metals coming from the volcano, and they are very good for the skin, rheumatism, arthritis, and other physical pains. Important Note: To reach Agios Nikolaos beach, it is essential to swim extremely well.
Swimming close to Thirassia Island Sailing above the underwater craters from Palia Kameni to Thirasia Island, the boat will anchor close to the island to enjoy the view and give you the chance to swim there for 30 minutes.
Sailing Sunset The end of the excursion comes at sunset time when the sun dives into the sea in the northernmost part of the island. Our boat will stop very close to Oia village where you will have the chance to watch the warm light of the setting sun under the violet sky before the night falls. Enjoy the breathtaking experience of watching a vast array of colours spreading across the sky and reflecting upon the unique Caldera of the island. Cherish the moments of complete relaxation and serenity with a glass of local white wine on board. There will be plenty of opportunities to take enviable photographs.
During sunset time, we will provide you with free wine and snacks (meatballs, stuffed wine leaves with rice, white cheese, tomatoes, cucumber, and olives).
